Ashley was a school teacher and travelled back and forth between two town to meet his long time girlfriend. He was going a while on M1 and then turn onto M6. He told us he will drop us at the turn point. this was the shortest but probably the most important rides of all. 20 minutes later. he drops us at the turn point of M1 and M6. It was beginning to rain, there was construction going on on the intersection and to top it all, cars were not allowed to stop on the highway shoulder.
Anyways, after going through several prohibited construction zones and highway shoulders, we re-align ourselves to M1 and stand at a place where we thought people can pick us up. Big Mistake! the construction workers told us that the next town is 6 miles east or 8 miles north. I cannot walk 8 miles north with my huge backpack and 6 miles east was out of question since it was off route. He told us that we can take a train ( a very expensive train) from this town 6 miles east. We were determined to stay on M1 and proceed north. In a little time, as rains got stronger, a group of construction workers came by and told us that they will call someone to give us a ride. 10 minutes later, they told us they cannot find us a ride and will take us with them up ahead. They were genuinely concerned for these two foolish kids on the side of a very busy highway in pouring rains. They take us in their car to their office which is a few miles north. We waited a few minutes and they loaded us up again and drove us to the next town up north. Next service station! this whole 8 miles took atleast 2-3 hours and a lot of walking.. Such amazing people..Fifth Car: consturction vehicle. Did not take a picture ofc :P
